A new project always begins with uploading a spreadsheet filled with relevant product data. To do this, click on New chat and then Project. The goal is to allow larger projects to be tariffed quickly and efficiently, with results stored in the master data.
We have a guiding principle: Blue is a To-Do. Products highlighted in blue require your attention, while products listed in black and white are considered finalized.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. The Upload
You can create a re-tariffing project and upload a product list into traide for tariffing. The list can contain, for example, 5, 300, 500, or 10,000 products. You'll quickly notice the efficiency gain.
To do this, click Classify → New Project and follow the steps.
💡 We ignore duplicates based on the article number. These are automatically skipped during upload — no manual deletion is required. Our system will notify you during the upload process.
2. The Tariffing
2.1 Intro
Click on the project. The goal is for every product to end up with an appropriate tariff number assigned to it. Several views are available to make tariffing easier. In the top left, you'll find All Products, Fastlane, and Linked Products.
Through partial automation, we help you work through a product list as efficiently as possible.
We recommend processing the clear-cut cases in the Fastlane first, so you can then focus on individual cases where the AI still has questions and your expertise is needed.
You have two options: either work in the list view where all products are listed, or open the Fastlane view and work through Fastlane first, then Links, then individual products in the overall view.
2.2 Fast Lane
This view enables time-efficient tariffing through AI-assisted pre-tariffing. The AI has already selected a tariff number for the product. You have the option to manually review the AI's decision or accept the AI suggestion directly. However, manual confirmation on your part is always required to close a case.
The AI never closes a case on its own.
Under Fast Lane Rules (top right), you can set the desired reliability level. This means the better the data quality, the higher the AI's reliability.
Additionally, master data can be included, so the AI checks whether a similar product has already been tariffed. If both rules are set, both must be met — meaning a product must have at least a high AI reliability and a similar product must have been found in the master data.
2.3 Links
The AI can detect variants and group them together, so you tariff the reference product once and the decision is applied to all products within the link group. It is essentially a temporary grouping of products.
A link can always be identified by the (+x) symbol on the left and can be opened with a click.
If you click the grey info icon next to the article number, you'll get an explanation for each product of why it was linked. We refer to specific, tariff-relevant attributes — an identical product name alone is not sufficient for the AI to link two products.
3. How to Tariff a Project
Start in the list view, then navigate to the Fastlane. Here you can accept the customs tariff number using the checkmark on the right side.
Alternatively, click on a product for more details. In the top right, you'll find the basis for the decision. There are three options: Fastlane, Master Data, or Alice. These options are always available — only Fastlane may be greyed out if its conditions are not met.
You can base your decision on your master data, meaning the AI will suggest products you have already tariffed in traide. It matches the tariff-relevant information and then suggests a variant. This requires that you already have data in your master data — the more master data in traide, the better.
As with manual tariffing, you can also tariff together with our AI, Alice. In the Alice's Suggestion view, you'll find the complete documentation and reasoning behind the AI's proposal. You also have the option to chat with the AI and ask follow-up questions.
4. Completion and Export
The status "Completed" indicates that the product list has been successfully tariffed and all products are now visible in the master data. If needed, the project can be exported via the three-dot menu (at the right end of the row).
Under "Product Data" you can export the finalized project — including individual nomenclatures, AI reasoning, and customs product descriptions.
The "Tariffing Data" option exports only the AI suggestion, allowing you to export AI proposals as an intermediate step before closing the tariffing case in traide.
