What are Product Links?
Product links are temporary groupings of similar products within a project. They help you efficiently classify product variants by defining one product as a reference product. The AI uses this reference product as a basis and evaluates whether and why the linked products fall under the same tariff number — or not.
Product links are temporary and serve exclusively as a tool during the classification process. They are not stored permanently.
How are Product Links created?
The AI automatically analyses the classification-relevant characteristics of your products and creates links on this basis. The goal is for the AI to already group all similar products correctly, keeping manual effort for the user to a minimum. In addition, links can also be created or adjusted manually. To do so, select the desired products within the project — the reference product is assigned automatically. The AI then compares all linked products with the reference product and generates a reasoning based on the classification-determining characteristics.
Example: You have a mountain bike available in different versions (e.g. Canyon Spiral CF and Canyon Grand Canyon) — the AI recognises the similarity and links them automatically. Instead of classifying each product individually, the classification is based on the reference product.
Where do you find Product Links?
Navigate to the relevant project.
Click on the "Linked Products" tab at the top.
You will now see all reference products with their respective +1, +2, +3 symbol (depending on the number of linked products).
From here, you have two options:
Click on the reference product – You are taken directly to the product view (Step 2), where you can select the tariff number.
Click on the +1, +2, +3 symbol – You see an overview of the group: the reference product at the top, with all linked products listed below.
How do you classify linked products?
Navigate to the desired products in the master data.
Select the products you want to link using the checkbox.
Click "Link" at the bottom to create the group.
Start the classification — the AI evaluates all linked products based on the reference product.
To remove a link, you can either remove individual products or dissolve the entire group using "Remove all links".
Where do you find the AI reasoning?
In the "Linked Products" tab, you can see all reference products with their respective +1, +2, +3 symbol. From here, you have two options:
Click on the reference product – You are taken directly to the product view (Step 2), where you can select the tariff number. The full decision basis including the AI reasoning is displayed there.
Click on the +1, +2, +3 symbol – You see a group overview: the reference product at the top, with all linked products listed below. Via the ⓘ symbol next to each product, you can view the AI reasoning. There, the AI explains:
the classification-determining characteristics in comparison to the reference product
the non-classification-determining characteristics that are not relevant for the classification
possible assessment uncertainties, if relevant information is missing
Benefits of Product Links
Time efficiency is the greatest advantage. Instead of classifying each product variant individually, the AI evaluates all linked products at once — based on a shared reference product. This saves considerable time, especially for large product catalogues with many similar items.
Important Note: Quality of Product Descriptions
Product links require good and complete product descriptions. The AI can only reliably compare and classify products when the product information for all linked items is sufficiently detailed. Incomplete descriptions lead to low confidence levels and inaccurate results.
💡 Tip: Enter all relevant product information in Step 1 before linking products — this ensures the best possible results.
