What can the feature do?
With Export Control Classification (ECC) in traide AI, you can check whether your products fall under the EU Dual-Use Regulation.
The feature is integrated directly into the compliance platform and appears in the classification process as an additional card, "Classification (Dual-Use)," below the tariff classification.
With it, you can:
Check products for export control obligations
Quickly document "not listed" (negative classification)
Analyze complex cases with support from Alice (AI)
Save or export results including documentation

What can Alice do?
Alice checks your product against the export control goods lists and proposes a classification for each regulation. You review and decide.
She also changes how you work with Alice: instead of a finished answer, she works through each review step by step with you. She proposes, you confirm, correct, or object, and she asks when something is missing.
Alice checks your product against three lists:
EU Dual-Use Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2021/821, Annex I) — preselected, relevant for every good
German national supplements (AWV Annex AL, Section B) — national controls below the EU thresholds
German Military List (AWV Annex AL, Section A) — weapons, ammunition, and armament material
The workspace covers the goods-list review: the technical classification of your product against the export control lists.

Sanctions and embargo screening
Sanctions list and country screening
End-use and catch-all screening
Determination of licensing requirements
Each regulation gets its own classification, justification, and report — all built on a shared product understanding drawn from the product's resources.
How does it work?
1.Open the product
Go to the compliance platform and open a product. The prerequisite is that the product has already been created. You'll find the "Classification (Dual-Use)" card in step 2.
2.Make an initial assessment
You have several options:
Not listed: for most products (quick to complete)
Manual classification: if you're already certain
Use correlation: if there's a connection to the tariff classification
Analyze with Alice: for complex or unclear case,
3. Start a deep dive with Alice (optional)
Click "Classify with Alice."
→ A new view opens (separate tab). There you work across three areas:
Left: your product and its reviews. Two tabs: Product (data and resources) and Reviews (status per regulation: ready, in progress, completed, blocked, product understanding always comes first). Here you switch between regulations and see the overall status.
Middle: The workflow. This is where you work with Alice on the regulation.
Right: Documents. Contains product resources, Alice's reports, and the source text of each cited list entry original and justification appear side by side.
How does the review proceed?
Set up the product. Continue with the data you uploaded in the tariff classification process, and in the Reviews tab, under Regulations, select which ones apply. Deselected regulations keep their progress and can be added back later.
Start a regulation. Each regulation starts individually. You decide which review runs when.
Go through the steps with Alice. Depending on the regulation, this is a single pass (the two German lists) or several steps (EU Dual-Use: item collection → item assessment → classification report). Alice proposes a result for each step: you accept, reject, or ask follow-up questions; if the product data isn't sufficient, she asks you. Every field remains editable by hand at any time.
Watch the result take shape. An open proposal appears as a blue-outlined card. Blue means: waiting on you. If you accept it, it turns gray, and the value appears in the compliance file on the left as a checkmark instead of a blue ring. This keeps the status always visible instead of buried in the chat history. Only what you've approved or entered yourself gets recorded, classification and responsibility remain yours.
Finish and move on. Once a regulation is done, the bar at the bottom guides you onward to the next regulation, to the result, or to a follow-up question. Once all are done, "All regulations completed" appears.
Start over anytime. Via the regulation's menu, you can reset the result or the workflow at any time, this option is only hidden while Alice is actively working.
What happens to the result?
You don't need to save anything extra: an accepted proposal is written back to the product on the platform immediately. If that fails, the acceptance fails too.
The platform stores the goods list number and justification; the detailed reasoning stays here in the workspace.

Alice as a second pair of eyes, not a replacement
For every review, Alice searches the complete goods list and drafts the justification directly, following the same procedure each time. This lets your time go into the decision rather than the lookup. Because she proposes and you decide, every result goes through the four-eyes principle: she supplies complete list coverage, you supply product knowledge and regulatory judgment together more reliable than either alone.
Still, she can make mistakes, miss an entry, misread one, or suggest a number that doesn't hold up. Treat every proposal as a draft, not a finished answer:
Read the cited list entry in Documents and compare it yourself against the product.
Check whether the justification actually fits the product data, not just whether it sounds plausible. This applies to the shared product understanding too.
If she asks you something, answer from the product documentation, not from memory.
The feature is built for export control professionals: it speeds up the work but doesn't replace the expertise. Whoever approves a result should be able to stand behind it even without Alice, both internally and to authorities.
